Biography

     The habit of performing entire songs onstage with his eyes closed may have earned him the nickname Sleepy, but onstage Eddie James anything but. Unforgettable live performances have earned him a well-deserved reputation as a must see up and coming guitarist. who creates a unique powerful sound that blends musical styles from Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ronnie Earl, Albert King, John Lee Hooker, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, combined with real life, often humorous lyrics in the vein of Little Charlie and the Nightcats and the Reverend Horton Heat.

     

      For 20+ years Sleepy Eddie James has played guitar all over the world. It began in the bars and clubs up and down the west coast of California. Sleepy Eddie has played over 1000 gigs and open air shows in the US and Europe and recorded 4 CD's along the way. Sleepy Eddie James has shared the bill or stage with renown blues artists like Robert Cray (USA), Kenny Neal (USA), Joe Louis Walker (USA), Charlie Musselwhite (USA), Philip Fankhauser (CH), Travis Haddix (USA). He has also performed with several rising stars on the international blues circuit like Vivian Vance Kelly (USA), Sir Oliver Malley (A), and Walt and the Blue Step (CH).

 Recording history: Sleepy Eddie James' first CD "Frisky from the Whisky" was released in 2001 to critical acclaim and airplay all over the world. In 2004, a live CD was recorded entitled “Live at the Oxx”, which showcases the raw acoustic/electric side to Sleepy Eddie's performances. Finally, in 2005, another live CD with a mix of classic blues and original songs called “Session Sounds” was recorded involving the former members Sugar Cane Train (CH). Finally, an mostly original CD called "Living like a King" was recorded in 2007 which features a blend of blues-rock and funk.

Who's playing in the Band?

Bass: "Molotov" Mike Alexander was accepted  into a prestigious international music school, but instead chose to tour the world for 7 years as a professional musician on cruise ships. Mike is an amazing player to hear and watch play slap/funk bass.

Drums:  Chris Wettstein has been a 15+ year veteran of the Swiss blues scene and has played with all the best blues bands the land has to offer. He is the groove "Meister" of control and tempo on the buckets and tubs.

Piano/Hammond Organ:  Dr. Daniel Suter has been the soul of the band for many years now. He adds an extra touch to every song like a layer of sweet icing. Dr. Dan always dispenses the musical medicine required.
